Coffee Together

Today I’m live from my Dad’s living room with a big mug of Green Mountain Coffee Vermont Country Blend while I wait for the rest of my family to arrive.

Do you have that one family member or friend that, without fail, makes the WORST cup of coffee you’ve ever had? I do. But today I am thankful for her and for that horrible cup of coffee. And not just because today is Thanksgiving, but because coffee brings us together (yeah, yeah it’s cheesy but hear me out).

She makes her coffee with the best intentions, and then we sit together and drink it and catch up on all that we’ve missed in each other’s life. And that is what today is about and what coffee is about.

On Thanksgiving and every other day of the year, a good (or bad) cup of coffee provides a reason to sit down with someone and be in the moment with them. No phones. No computers. Just a cup of coffee and a friend.

I’m not talking about the Grande Half Caff Sugar Free Double Dirty Chai you order from Starbucks on your way to work everyday. I’m talking about the comfortable coffee shop on the corner where you have your first date. Or the trendy coffee bar you go to with your girlfriends to try some funky coffee drink and chat while you take a break from your hectic lives.

THAT is why I started this blog. And that is why coffee is so special to me. It has that effect anywhere in the world. So today – coffee together (yes, I’m using coffee as a verb). Grab a loved one and a cup and take a moment to appreciate that delicious brew and the love that comes with it.

Oh… and I promise I’ll start posting reviews of my favorite coffee shops next week 😉
